Welcome to Project Gallons4Gloves!

Dear Readers,

First off, allow me to welcome you to project Gallons4Gloves! Gallons4Gloves is a program which was created to benefit both the hobbyist, and the less well off, through buying, selling and trading of aquariums and aquarium related products and livestock.

I'm sure you are wondering how a glass cage could ever benefit someone who is less well off. Well, allow me give you a general outline:

The Market

To be frank, the market is you!. In the hobby of fishkeeping, millions of dollars shifts from hand to hand in non-retail sales each year. Whether someone is selling a tank, a filter or a branch of Acropora corals, you can be sure that a fair amount of cash is being moved. It is a market conquered by those who are well off, those of us who have enough money to spend on hobbies, and not just surviving in this world. Everyone is always looking for a good, local deal. Also, people are constantly looking to unload product, whether the reason be cash or wife, it's not important. The fact is, no one wants an empty tank taking up space in the garage. The problem is sometimes there are "hiccups". Sometimes the tank needs new glass. Sometimes the edges have rusted. Maybe the stand needs to be refinished. Or maybe the two perfect people just can't find a way to connect.

The Idea

So, how does this all tie together. Well, the idea is that I will purchase goods, such as tanks, filters, lights, heaters and even livestock off of people through my connections. I will then make sure everything is in tip-top shape, like new. If its a rusty tank, I will remove the rust. Broken impellor? I will fix it. Then, I will take the cost which I purchased the tank, then add my expenses and the profit margin, then I will resell this item to anyone looking for cheap, second hand product.
For example:
Say I buy a 40g tank for $20. The reason it is so cheap is because it needs to be re-siliconed. I will take the time and effort to re-silicone the tank then sell it. Here's a visual presentation:

Costs:
Tank: $20
Silicone + Tape: $10
--------------------------
$30 in expenses

Add $10 to profit margin = $40

This tank will sell for $40

$20 + $10 + $10 = $40 (final price which item will sell at)

Now, here comes the the base for the whole concept. Once, possibly twice a month, I will take the overall profit made from the sales to a retail store such as WINNERS or ZELLERS. Here, in bulk, I will buy items such as warm hats, gloves, blankets, possibly even a coat. These items I will then take to one of several locations where they will either by delivered on foot to those in need, or will be donated to a shelter. As you can see, I will gain ZERO profit, so dont think this is some kind of scam for me to make money.

So ask yourself: What is there to lose? Allow me to take your product and sell it in a way which will benefit those less well off. A pair of gloves, a hat, can make a big difference during these cold Canadian nights.

Thank you for your attention. Now please, visit the sections of our site as you see fit, you may just find a deal of a lifetime! If you have any questions, check the FAQ section, where an email address is provided.
